About the tour
Colombia is known for its coffee, but not everyone knows that Colombia also has the best quality of a gemstone called emerald. The objective of our tour is that you learn about this jewels and the importance it has in Colombia. In this tour through the center of Bogotá, you will learn the difference between a good quality emerald and a low quality one, the extraction, carving process of this precious stone and how to differentiate a real emerald and a false one. If you want to have a good time and become an expert on this subject during your visit to Colombia, this tour is perfect for you.
Itinerary
We will meet at 10:30am or 2:30pm in front of the gold museum, we will be there with an orange umbrella.
The first place we will visit will be the plaza del rosario and you will discover why there are people standing all day in the square, guess? they are engaged in the informal emerald trade there! Then we go to a workshop where we have representations of the extraction and carving process of this precious stone, and finally we go to the jewelry store to see in how these precious jewels are finally sold. If you decide to join our tour you will learn more about why this jewel is so important to Colombia, we are waiting for you!
